Pap Chips

pap chipsPap Chips! I’m sure we’ve all heard of pap and wors, braai pap and mealie meal… but this is a game changer. It’s time to get creative with your pap! The combination of crispy and creamy textures and the sweet relish with the savory chips makes for a deliciously moreish snack.

Ingredients: (Serves 6)
1 cup Maize Meal
1 tsp Green Onion Spice (optional – Aromat works perfectly)
Handful of Parsley (finely chopped)
2 Cups Sunflower Oil for deep frying
Salt for seasoning
Maize Meal for dusting
  • Bring salted water and green onion spice to a boil then gradually whisk in the Ace Super Maize Meal until smooth.
  • Reduce heat whilst whisking to get a smooth yet medium pliable consistency.
  • Fold in chopped parsley.
  • Once cooked leave to cool so it’s easier to work with.
  • Toss Pap chips into a desperate bowl with maize meal to coat before deep frying.
  • In a pan heat oil and deep fry the pap chips in batches, drain excess oil on a paper towel season with salt immediately.
  • Serve with Mediterranean sauce. Enjoy!
