“Diemersfontein Summer’s Lease is a famous red blend that shows aromatic layers of plum, cherry and tobacco with undertones of fresh strawberry on the nose. The palate is lively with nuances of dark chocolate, dried spice and aniseed, accompanied by the perfectly integrated tannin structure and a lingering finish.
This wine will complement strongly flavoured game dishes, and rich lamb roasts.
The Diemersfontein estate has been in the Sonnenberg family since 1940. First bought by David’s grandfather and then passed down to his father, Richard – who planted the first vines in 1970. Since then, the vineyard has been responsible for truly exceptional wines. This includes the wooded Pinotage which won the Paul Sauer award in 2001.
