The Beyerskloof Reserve Pinotage is a bold, full-bodied red wine. Beyerskloof are one of South Africa’s most well known wineries, making some of the country’s most popular Pinotage wines.
This wine is made from the fruit of specially selected plots of mature bush vines, matured in new and second-fill French oak barrels for 18 months. A dark, intense wine, crammed with blackberry and bitter cherry fruit, accented with hints of cedar and smoky, savoury spices. Ample tannins provide prodigious grip and length. Drink immediately or cellar for 5 years or more. Best served with red meat.
Now, let’s travel back to 1988, where we’ll find Beyers Truter of Kanonkop – a prominent winemaker. With only one goal in mind – to make exceptional wine – he explored the Winelands for a suitable estate. Finding Nooitgedacht in the Stellenbosch area, he thought it the perfect starting block. Given that the farm belonged to Beyers’ for five generations, before it was sold in 1895, Jan Beyers took it as a good omen.
