The Hughes Family Wines, the creators of Nativo Red, is a young wine venture in Malmesbury, one of the Cape’s most promising modern wine regions producing wines of a distinctive local flavour. Swartland is a large wine-producing area 40 miles (65km) north of Cape Town in the Western Cape of South Africa. Traditionally a wheat-producing region, it now specializes in making rich, fruit-driven wines from Shiraz, Chenin Blanc and Pinotage.
The blend is Shiraz 48%, Merlot 16% Grenache 13% Mourvedre 11% Pinotage, 9% Viognier 3%.
Dryland farming and an organic approach to viticulture bring forth aromas of blackcurrants, spices and distinctive mineral flavours. Warm mouthfeel and smooth, integrated oak finish on soft tannins.”
