Backsberg goes back to the 20’s, when Michael Back’s grandfather arrived in Cape Town from Lithuania. He purchased, what is now, the Backberg Estate and started planting grains, fruits, and vines, before his son Sydney joined him in 1936. Michael joined the company in 1976 and shortly after his father passed away, he focussed his efforts. Now, Backsberg is known for his amazing wines.
